Stellar Amber Geisha - Best of Panama (Direct Trade)
One of the best coffees we've come across in recent memory, Stellar Amber Geisha is bright, floral, effervescent and elegant.
This Panama Geisha came in at #10 in the 2020 Best of Panama Specialty Coffee Auction in the category of Washed Geisha. It scored 92 points and had a winning bid of USD $56.50/lb (CAD $161/kg).
The coffee is part of our Transparent Origins series purchased via Direct Trade by our green coffee organization WE THE ORIGIN, directly from Stella Moreno, owner of Finca Los Cenizos in Chiriquî, Panama.
This is our second year purchasing coffee from Finca Los Cenizos. Fortunately, WE THE ORIGIN had a relationship in place with the producer and we were able to purchase this geisha before the Best of Panama auction. We knew it was a special coffee so we secured our purchase before the auction drove prices up significantly.
ARTWORK
The original artwork on the coffee bag was created by Imtiyaz Rajwani (@i.a.rajwani and @imz_83).
To celebrate the success of this award-winning coffee, we decided to go with a black and gold version of the design.
FINCA LOS CENIZOS
Finca Los Cenizos is family owned and operated in the highlands of Cerro Punta, Chiriquî. They are a regular top 10 finalist in the legendary Best of Panama coffee auctions with their incredible geisha!
Finca Los Cenizos has beautiful volcanic soil and is surrounded by exoctic flora and fauna. Their coffee plantations have a unique microclimate because they are surrounded by several water springs and is partially covered by the shade of Ash trees that date back more than 100 years. This helps to extend the ripening season which helps in the development of all attributes of this exemplary geisha coffee.
Their team is 99% composed of the Ngäbe Bugle tribe who work very hard to maintain high standards.
