Lucia Mamani
Caranavi is a province in the La Paz department of western Bolivia. It is located on the Andean Plateau, which is the most extensive high plateau on Earth outside Tibet. The mild climates and decent annual rainfall make for ideal coffee growing conditions. As of 2003, Caranavi is the main source for Bolivian coffee production.
This coffee is sourced from Lucia Mamani in Uchumachi, Caranavi. The farm was established by Lucia’s late husband Valeria Uluri in 1987, and Lucia has been managing the farm with her son and daughter-in-law since 2016. The farm is now ten hectares and alongside the coffee Lucia grows citrus, banana, potatoes and yucca.
The resulting cup reminds us of plum, nutella and vanilla.

Deuxième café Th3rdwave d'août, je me fais un V60 avec le Lucia Mamani de 94 Celcius (Montréal). C'est un catuai de la Bolivie de la région de Canavari et il a subit un procédé anaérobique lavé. J'ai pris 25g de grain avec 390ml d'eau.
Le grain est assez gros et uniforme, dégageant des odeurs d'écorce de feuillus avec des notes grillées de bois sec.
En bouche, on perçoit bien des saveurs de noisette et de beurre. Il possède un corps huileux et des notes chocolatées faisant penser au Nutella. En arrière-plan, légères impressions d'abricots et de prune, laissant sur une finale peu acide avec une amertume subtilement boisée.
Café bien intéressant qui nous offre des saveurs bien douces, mais avec une couche de complexité intéressante en plus. Il a un bon corps, ce que j'affectionne particulièrement! On goûte aussi une palette chocolatée différentes des plus foncées, ce qui rend l'expérience plus intéressante encore.
