The Mbeya region in Tanzania's Southern Highlands is also known as "Scotland of Africa" due to its hilly and mountainous terrains. Rainfall is abundant in the higher elevations, with mists and light rain even occurring during the dry season. With its rich volcanic soil and cooler temperatures, the agricultural sector thrives in the region.
This coffee is sourced from 150 smallholder farmers grouped around the Mwalyego washing station in Iwala, Mbeya. Coffee sourced from this washing station has taken the top spots in the country's Taste of Harvest competition for many years.
The washed process gives chocolate, grape and cranberry notes to this coffee.
