Rwanda Rusizi

Coffee in Rwanda is Grown by over 400,000+ smallholders, who own less than a quarter of a hectare of land. As a result, coffee is brought into regional processing centers where farmers can contribute their alongside other local farmers ensuring similar quality and profiles are maintained. We purchase our coffee from Gaseke Coffee washing station (CWS) located within the Rusizi district. Located along the Congo Nile trail which is surrounded by the Nyunge national park. The CWS receives coffee cherries from 396 farmers of which 25% of producers are women farmers. Annually Gaseke CWS processes about 250 MT of coffee cherries. While a majority of cherries are processed using the washed method, Natural and Honey processed coffees are also available depending on what is requested by buyers and exporters.
