Ozolotepec

Oaxaca is a state in southern Mexico, known for its diverse and picturesque geography. Situated in the southern part of the country, Oaxaca features a mix of coastal areas along the Pacific Ocean, rugged mountain ranges, and lush valleys. The state is renowned for its cultural richness, indigenous heritage, and traditional arts and crafts.

This coffee is sourced from families residing near the town of Santa Cruz Ozolotepec in Oaxaca, engaged in coffee cultivation on small-acreage farms. Picture a journey starting from sea level in the well-known Mexican beach destination of Puerto Escondido, progressing through increasingly steep and winding roads, passing villages where locals maintain traditional indigenous attire. The culmination is a lush forest with intercropped coffee, bananas, corn, beans, fruit trees, and views of the Pacific Ocean—an illustration of the Oaxacan coffee growing region, specifically the zona Pluma. Here, the Sierra Madre del Sur coastal mountain range is dotted with modest coffee farms.

The resulting cup reminds us of snickerdoodle, pear and pecan.
