Velvet Sunrise Coffee Roasters
Whitchurch-Stouffville

Kenya AB

This lot is a textbook definition of the bright, fruit-forward complexity and laser-sharp acidity for which Kenyan specialty coffee is celebrated. Grown in nutrient-rich, red volcanic soils on the high slopes surrounding Mount Kenya, this AB lot highlights the iconic SL-28 and SL-34 heirloom varieties. The country’s rigorous, traditional double-washing process entirely clarifies the cup, preserving the stunning transparency of its high-altitude terroir.

The cup opens with a juicy, punchy wave of black currant layered over vibrant, clean notes of pink grapefruit. As the liquid cools, the intense citric and phosphoric brightness seamlessly balances out with a clean cane sugar sweetness and a long, tea-like finish reminiscent of hibiscus tea. Highly complex and dynamic, this coffee is specifically roasted to excel in clean pour-over methods like V60 and Chemex, offering an incredibly refreshing and expressive tasting experience.
