A superb Kenyan coffee with a cupping score of 88pts. Nestled between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range, east of the Great Rift Valley, Gichathaini benefits from ideal growing conditions: rich red volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, warm days, and cool nights. Producers hand-harvest the coffee cherries, selecting only the perfectly ripe fruit. After harvest, the cherries are transported to the Gichathaini wet mill, where they are depulped and fermented using water from the Ragati River, managed with a strong focus on resource preservation. The coffee is then sun-dried on African raised beds. In the cup, expect a beautiful acidity typical of Kenya, notes of berries, and a very intriguing vinous character.
