Nestled uphill from Chelbesa Village, the Danche Washing Station is a highly sought-after, smaller operation in Gedeb, renowned for its unique, high-end flavor profile and dense beans. While the station primarily focuses on its popular Natural lots, this Washed offering caters to the demand for classic, bright Ethiopian coffee. Over 290 local farmers deliver ripe cherries directly to the station and are paid in cash. Following pulping, the beans undergo a 36-48 hour soak in clear running water before being meticulously dried on raised beds for 7-10 days until reaching 11.5% moisture. The coffee benefits from the region's traditional shade canopy, including Cordia Africana and Albizia Gummifera trees, yielding a clean, complex, and highly desirable cup.
