Colombia - Magia del Campo VLI - Planadas, Tolima

Region: Planadas, Tolima
Producer: Magia Del Campo
Varietal: Castillo, Colombia, Caturra
Altitude: 1600-1950 MASL
Process: Washed
Roast Profile: Medium Roast

Tasting Notes: This is an exceptional lot of the Colombia Magia del Campo. We love the deep sweetness, bright acidity and juicy body in this harvest. Light and medium roasts displayed notes of blood orange, caramel, tart cherry, and praline, all lifted up by a beautiful acidity and juicy body. Darker roasts exhibited notes of bittersweet chocolate, crème brûlée and toasted almond.

Tolima, Colombia has been known more for violence in recent decades than specialty coffee. That narrative is changing with the dedicated work of producer groups like ASOPEP which has, against all odds, become one of the most professionalized cooperatives in the region offering consistent, world-class coffees year after year. Not content with just producing excellent coffee, ASOPEP is also a force for good in the region. This coffee was purchased using Bellwether's Verified Living Income benchmark which ensures that coffee producers were paid a fair, sustainable wage.

Roasted on a zero-emissions Bellwether.
