Guanacaste

Alajuela is a department of Costa Rica in the north-central region of the country. Elevations here range from 900-1400 masl, and the region is blessed with a variety of micro-climates suitable for coffee production.

This coffee is sourced from Alejo Castro and his West Valley farm, Volcán Azul, in Alajuela. Alejo is the fifth generation descendant of renowned coffee pioneers Alejo C. Jimenez and Whilhelm Kahle. His ancestors planted some of the very first specialty coffee plantations in the country back in the 1900s. With over 200 years of experience, Alejo & his family’s goal with the farm has been to have a positive impact on the environment while improving crop quality. Many of the coffees produced at Volcán Azul have won awards.

The resulting cup reminds us of peach, hazelnut, and honey.
